Inspired by Mannington

As a proud member of the Norfolk Contemporary Craft Society I was invited to create a body of work inspired by Mannington Hall a medieval moated manor house in North Norfolk in 2016.

Although the beautiful gardens are opened to the public in the summer months I choose to visit Mannington in early January and was immediately drawn to the contrasting textures and colours of the building as it sat in the bleak and wintered grounds. Rich brick reds leaping out in contrast with the beautiful and varying grey blue hues of the flint walls. I was then inspired to soften these architectural attributes by responding to the pale yellows of the reed beds that surround Mannington, creating a balanced harmony that I hope reflects both the beauty of the nature and of Mannington’ architecture
